Laser cutting is a precise form of metal fabrication that uses a concentrated laser energy beam to cut in a specified design. Metal Press and Bend offers the latest technology. Furthermore, we use high-quality CNC machinery to ensure an accurate finish on each product.
Laser cutting can be used for intricate designs but is better for one-off products or short runs. If you require large amounts of cut sheet metal, particularly in simple designs such as perforations, then turret punching is a better and more cost-effective option.
Why choose laser cutting?
Laser cutting can be more expensive than other methods of metal fabrication but the precision finish is worth it. However, it has many benefits including:
Flexibility - laser cutting gives you the ability to cut intricate and custom designs, which could not be achieved with other methods
Precision - laser cutting uses a concentrated beam to cut the metal controlled by computer allowing precise control and measurements.
Fast turnaround - using laser cutting is a fast process which allows one-off products and short runs to be completed quickly and efficiently
Quality - using only low levels of heat, laser cutting does not distort the metal and therefore leaves a cleaner finish.
What can you use laser cutting for?
Laser cutting has many applications, particularly for designs that are complex. Applications include:
- Art installations
- Custom shapes
- Decorative grilles
Metal Press and Bend has the capability to cut metal sheet sizes of up to 3050mm by §520mm. Maximum thicknesses depends on the metal type - steel can be cut up to 10mm thick, stainless steel 6mm and aluminium 3mm.
